We have had tremendous success with the Seppi m_ H-SML, H-SMW, H-SMO-B, BMS/L and the BMS Mulchers fitted to excavators. They are working in a wide range of land clearing and mulching operations and are suitable for both wheel drive and tracked machines.
The Seppi m_ BMS is regarded as the ultimate excavator based mulcher. Its exceptional strength in construction and performance make it ideal for heavy mulching. Material up to 200mm can be handled with ease. The unique hydraulic hood allows the operator to fell the tree and then close the hood and mulch it up.
The Seppi m_BMS/L is the newest model to the range of boom mounted mulcher to fit 15-20T Excavator, combining the same versatile motor as the H-SMO-B with the ruggedness of construction as the BMS. Mulching up to 150mm material with ease, both swinging and fixed tooth rotor options. The unique hydraulic hood allows the operator to fell the tree and then close the hood and mulch it up.
The Seppi m_H-SMO-B is a very rugged machine built to the highest quality and performance. It will successfully cut and mulch trees and scrub 80 to 100mm in diameter. The rear roller and hatch adjustment combination allow the machine to be used for both mulching and mowing.
The Seppi m_H-SMW is the lighter version of the machines in the H-SMO-B range. It is built to the same standards and with the same features as the heavier Mulchers. It will mulch material up to 60mm in diameter.
The Seppi m_ H-SML is the lightest excavator based machine designed for machines up to 4.5 tonne. It features a change from the heavy cast hammers to back-to-back tempered flails fixed by shackles. This combination achieves high productivity without the need for high hydraulic horsepower. Material up to 40mm can be mulched.
The correct installation of the mulcher to the excavator is critical to the ultimate performance from the machine. Many of the latest excavators are capable of running the mulcher directly from the auxiliary service port without compromising the other functions. This is achieved with the computer control found in the latest series of hydraulic pumps.
For older machines and those without the latest pump controls Hydratorq Limited have developed a valve kit that allows the mulcher to work effectively on an excavator and still allow all the other functions to work. The valves demand a priority flow from each hydraulic pump and combine this to drive the mulcher. This flow is adjusted to match the excavator performance to the hydraulic requirement of the mulcher. This provides the maximum Horsepower to the mulcher while still allowing the excavator to travel straight, lift, slew etc.
With the Seppi m_ BMS/L, H-SMO-B and the H-SMW range the mulcher motor is a variable displacement piston type, which is simply adjusted to get the correct RPM on the flail rotor in relation to the maximum achievable, flow from the excavator. The BMS uses a bent axis fixed displacement piston motor, which is matched to the flow from the excavator to achieve the correct RPM. There needs to be a link between the excavator dipper arm and the mulcher. These are built to suit each application because of the variation between various machines and quick-hitches.
There are some costs involved in the installation, as the valve kit needs to be fitted together with the boom pipe-work and associated hoses. If your machine is fitted with the pipe-work for a breaker or hammer then this can generally be used.
